First Friday Feature— Offset: Figurative Selections from the Sherman Print Portfolio Amidst the changing artistic landscape of 1960s New York, commercial printer Jules Sherman transformed his Manhattan printing plant into a “joyous atelier on the weekends.”
Offset highlights 12 offset lithographs from an expansive portfolio of 118 produced in Sherman’s de facto atelier, exploring how each artist portrayed the human form within the dialogue of Abstract Expressionism and figurative art in this period. This exhibition is organized by the Asheville Art Museum and Hailey Kasney, curatorial intern. This exhibition project is supported by the International Fine Prints & Drawings Association (IFPDA) Foundation.
